Outing day-Picnic

Written by Gibbon Zakaria. Posted in Home

As it has always been the custom here at Don Bosco CALM Namugongo, boys normally have picnics. It was again on Thursday when the long awaited day reached that is the picnic day. The preparation for this day started as earl as the day before the event, where by the eats and drinks had to be prepared in advance. Three Costa buses and a taxi were also booked earl y enough to help in transporting the boys. On the actual day, we woke up at 6:00 am and prepared our selves for morning prayers .Shortly after the morning prayers, the buses arrived and we set off. We reached the beach around 10:00 am and the boys immediately dived into the water and started swimming happily. After few minutes, we were called for break first where by each one of us had a glass of juice and bread with blue band.

We were later joined by Father Dan and his group who also a hand in the support of this wonderful day .We had lunch at around 2:00pm; a variety was served that is to say rice, Irish potatoes, meat, cabbages and sodas. The food was enough for all us up to the extent that boys failed to finish all the food in the dishes. All I can say is that it was a heavy meal.More still, some of the activities at the beach included playing beach soccer, beach volley, and swimming, rolling in the sand, running and dancing which made the day so busy and colorful. We left the beach at around 5:10pm and all the boys were happy of whom included Gibbon Zakaria, Kirabo John Bosco, and others.

Inter schools competition at Don Bosco CALM-Namugongo

Written by Zakaria Gibbon. Posted in Home

It was on Monday 12th Jan 2015 when the inter Schools football competition started under the organization of our director Rev Fr John Mary with the help of other workers like brothers, aunties and uncles. It was so interesting that all the four teams i.e. Majorine College, Kira primary school, Namaliga football club, and a combination of Bombo technical school and kamuli technical school played to our expectation. All the teams were very organized and well equipped. The early kick off took place around 1:15 and it was between Namaliga foot ball club and Technical foot ball club .The officiator of the match was father Dennis from Kamuli who did a perfect job. By the end of first half, it was 2-0 in favor of Namaliga foot ball club .The players relaxed for about 5 minutes and then returned for second half which ended in favor of Namaliga football club.

There followed a second match between majorine and Kira primary. This time round the officiator was Brother Gabriel who too did a fantastic job .The boys played as music was being played. At the end of 90 minutes Majorine emerged the winner by hammering kira primary 4-3 goals. Conclusively, it was a wonderful day and thanks to whoever sacrifices towards our well being. May the good lord bless the works of your hands.

General cleaning at Don Bosco Calm-Namugongo

Written by Uncle Lawrence. Posted in Home

Just like any other family, cleanliness is so important so the boys at DON BOSCO-CALM. Carried out serious cleaning through mopping,  sweeping, accompanied by carrying out their luggage from inside their halls of residence so as to enable them to carry out general cleaning successfully. Similarly, they also cleaned the place of worship since God is the provider of whatever we are having so there is need to worship Him in a clean and well organized place.

Namaliga the mother of all the Salesian communities in Uganda

Written by Br Robert Dias. Posted in Home

DonBosco Calm Namugongo was present at Namaliga for the silver jubilee celebration of DonBosco. A chosen group from Don Bosco-Calm enacted a poem, outlining the growth of Don Bosco – Namaliga as a young mother enthusiastic for her children. Namaliga a sleepy village in Bombo was woken up rudely from it slumber by the salesians when they first arrived in 1989 – youth who were loitering around were aroused and captured by Don Bosco‘s charisma .

The young mother in Namaliga having gained a foot hold brought forth another child – this time a salesian community in Kamuli with its vocation training centre –today a full fledged one with all activities and skills to tell the unemployed youth in the area that there is “a better tomorrow” for them .Namaliga mother was anxious to spread her wings further and this time they were given full control of CALM-now Don Bosco CALM to take care of youths who are at risk, the poor, the marginalized, those forgotten by the society. Namaliga a mother still wanted to go further a field and this time went to Atede village in Gulu town.

All the four salesians communities are well established but Namaliga is the mother of all Don Bosco institutions in Uganda and it will not stop with these four institutions , in time to come she will spread her wings to other parts of Uganda. May God our father take care of us all in Uganda. May Don Bosco‘s charisma be widely spread and his children be faithful to him.
