A NEW IRON SHEET COATING

Written by Super User. Posted in Home

The new layer being applied

The whole renovation process is actually getting done. Renewal of iron sheets with a new coating (painting) is one of the works in progress. Coatings are applied in several layers to reduce the chance that pin-holes and thin areas in the coating will coincide in all layers. The aim is to make the isolation of the metal from its environment as complete as possible.

Preservation of iron therefore involves understanding the principles of corrosion. Isolation of iron from the atmosphere involves application of an isolating paint layer, and maintenance of that layer. Breaking of the layer will allow rust topropagate under the paint surface. The action begun with thorough cleaning of dirty and removal of rusty parts on the iron sheets since paint cannot be re-applied to a surface untilall the rust and dirt is thoroughly removed.

WE LONG FOR RAIN

Written by Super User. Posted in Home

Part of the Potato plantation that longs for water

Direct sunlight is required for all life on Earth.  It provides health benefits from the Vitamin D we receive from sunlight.  It acts as a disinfectant for molds, mildews, viruses, and this reduces the spread of the flu.  It provides photosynthesis which is needed for all plants to grow strong and healthy enough to produce food crops. And it drives the production of electrical power through solar panels.

When this sunlight becomes too much however, the plants begin to weaken and finally dry. The increasing sunshine has become a threat for our crops. We thank God for blessing us with a simple downpour last night and continue to pray for more rain and successful growth of our plants especially the Irish potatoes. The community is using a simple method of irrigation; however this method only sustains a small plantation and therefore could not work for the Irish Plantation which settles on a big plot of land. This simple-made irrigating pipe can only throw water to a limited distance.

IRISH POTATO PLANTATION

Written by Super User. Posted in Home

This season has featured our community taking part in Irish potato growing for the first time ever. So far the we are not doing so bad, the crop is growing well despite the increasing sunshine. However, we may need more rain (water) for the successful growth of the potatoes. Thus if it fails to rain, the only plan B will be irrigation.

NO MORE TO BARE FEET WALKS

Suuna stands at peace with his new pair of sandals

In an effort to improve on the personal hygiene of our boys, the community has bought new pairs of sandals for every boy. Before these sandals, the boys were seen walking bare-footed and most often some of them reported cases of minor accidents including collision of their feet with jutting ground stones. They would take a bathe and enter their beds with dirty feet which caused their bed sheets to get dirtied within a short time. However, with the provision of these sandals; this will all be history. The boys’ hygiene will improve most probably and they will walk around freely expecting no dangers of them hitting their feet with stones among others.
