On Sunday the 30th of August, we celebrated the birthday party of Aunt Gabriella. We realized that Aunt Gabriella who was given the name of aunt Namirembe was very happy to see how she is important to our community. The same day Aunt Ola was supposed to leave us begun with the Mass presided over by Fr. Jean Marie who made Aunt Gabriella pronounce publically again her promises that she made on her baptism day because it was the same date of her baptism. After the mass at 11:00 am, Aunt Gabriela offered some sweets to the boys as a way of sharing her joy with them. At night for our supper we celebrated in the community the birthday of Aunt Gabriella who came a little bit late because she was from taking some sick boys to the hospital and then the whole community gathered around her, she cut for us a cake and sweets and everyone was happy. We wish you lots of blessings Aunt Gabriela in your life

On Saturday the 29th of August together with our Don Bosco CALM boys, we celebrated the farewell party of Aunt Ola who was given a Luganda name Namata. By 7:30 pm all the boys assembled at the community house and we begun the celebrations with a prayer led by the boys themselves. The Rector welcomed everyone to the feast and invited everyone present to follow the life of Aunt Ola in a video that was prepared by our Br. Ssemakula Henry. Then meat roasting commonly known as “nyama choma” followed opened by Aunt Ola herself and then the boys followed. There were presentations all along the feast with which the boys expressed their joy for the presence of Aunt Ola among us and as a way of thanking her. This was through dancing, singing, skits and giving her gifts. This was followed by sharing a well prepared dinner and cutting of the cake by Aunt Gabriela who was celebrating her birthday and then came a moment of giving a card and a gift prepared by the community to Aunt Ola after which she addressed us saying, “I thank you for the rosary because for me it is a sign of faith and I wish you to rise in your faith and in everything in this life be it here or somewhere else” she asked for pardon from where she went wrong and appreciated the party prepared for her and that she was happy to stay with us.
Fr. Jean Marie, the Rector of Don Bosco Calm-Namugongo in his speech thanked Aunt Ola for all the things she did and he said, “Indeed we shall miss you, even if we are not together physically, we are together in spirit. Thank you for the work you have done; taking boys to the hospital night and day, going for shopping, taking porridge to kira primary school, occupying the boys with games and especially for the P.4 where you have been the class teacher.” Thank you aunt Ola for you have been a model to some of us through your smile, your way of praying and your simplicity, giving time to everyone

Everyone at Don Bosco Namugongo CALM right from the youngest to the oldest has got talent, on this Wednesday the 25th, it was a day of manifesting the talents received from God, it was on the same day of talent show that the boys through the brass band, jazz band, music, dance, drama and mimes welcomed Fr. Jean Marie, the Rector of Don Bosco Namugongo CALM, who had spent almost three weeks in Europe; first of all in Italy for the bicentenary celebrations of the birth of Don Bosco and in Poland to meet our benefactors and talking to them about our lovely community. At 5:00 pm on arriving at the gate, father was welcomed by the brass band, then the ceremonies continued near the community house from where some sweets were distributed to the boys and happy birthday songs were sung since it was also his birthday. At 6:30 pm it was the time for talent show and at that moment the boys danced, sung and played comedy. We also received a dance from Fr. Jean Marie who showed us how happy he was. At around 9:00 pm the ceremony was concluded in the community house as the staff of Don Bosco Namugongo CALM comprised of the Salesians, volunteers and social workers were celebrating the birthday of Fr. Jean Marie who was not able to celebrate it the same day because of his journey. In all the speeches, we thanked God for the return of our Rector and from himself we heard about his journey to Europe.
He shared with us his new motto “The impossible is not salesian”. The life there and he transmitted to us the greetings from many Polish Salesians and volunteers who have ever been at Don Bosco CALM. Our thanks go to the boys who manifested their talents without fear and from all the people who made the day colorful.
